The teaching staff in Student Activities Dept. /the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Mona Taha Idris, head of Scout Division, participated in the developing course for the officials of Scout activities division in public universities, universities, and private colleges in Iraq, which was set up by the Student Activities Dept. in the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

 Al-Kitaab University in Kirkuk as its host for the period from 14-18/11/2021 with the participation of representatives of more than 54 public and private universities.

The course aimed to develop the Scouts’ capabilities and provide them with the methods that contribute effectively to achieving the goal of the Scout progress, in addition to attracting new members to engage in the field of lead qualification. The course curriculum included many theoretical lectures and practical applications in the scouting field, as well as several developmental sessions, including the global policy for youth participation, the Arab scout curriculum, and the importance of leadership and planning in the scouting movement and sustainable development for public service, building a bright future and preserving the environment.

Dept. of  Student Activities at U.O.T. participated in poetry festival (Al-Jawahiry- Course), which was organized by Student Activities Dept. in the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for the period 21-25/11/2021, hosted by the University of Information and Communication Technology and the University College of AL- Hikmah with the participation of 84 poets They represent 52 public and private universities from various Iraqi governorates.

The University of Technology in the festival, whose competitions were held at the University College of AL- Hikmah, was represented by the student Maryam H. Khudhair, her poem (The Mind and Madness) and the student Ahmed A. Fadhil, his poem (Al-Hussein).

The President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Ahmed M. Hassan Al-Ghaban, inaugurated " Monument to the mother of the martyr " at the gate of Dept. of Student Activities at the university on Monday, 15/11/2021, in the presence of the Administrative Vice -President of the University, Prof. Dr. Hussein Karim, and two heads of  Depts. ( Control and Systems Engineering, Asst. Prof. Dr. Azaad Rahim and Materials Engineering/ Asst. Prof. Dr. Hussein Alaa and Director of Department of Student Activities/ Asst. Prof. Dr. Najah Salman and a number of university department directors, teachers and students.

The sculptor Dr. Jawad Abdul-Kadhim in Artistic Activity Division of the department that carried out the monument, a brief summary of his achievement of the monument, as he said that the idea of ​​erecting the monument came with the martyrdom being a big title and containing many meanings. I chose the subject of the martyr child as a symbol of a new life.. The mother is patient and anticipating that this pain has no subtle meanings and the sanctity of martyrdom in the rank of prophets and righteous people.

He added that this work was done with personal efforts by him and under the supervision of the director of the department.

Prof. Dr. Al-Ghaban praised the efforts to implement this work and the self-possession of artistic activity in Student Activities Department. And that the university is proud of this work. He added that the subject of martyrdom has great privacy and must be embodied, as Iraq has witnessed great sacrifices for its advancement and defense.

The President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Ahmed M. Hassan Al-Ghaban, inaugurated the annual fine arts exhibition for the students of the University of Technology on Monday, 15th of Nov., 2021 at the theater hall, in the presence of the Administrative   Vice – President of the University, Prof. Dr. Hussein Hamid Karim, and a number of heads of engineering departments, heads of administrative departments, employees and students of the University.

The official of Technical Activities Division in Dept. of Student Activities, Lec. Shahab Ahmed said that the number of works participating in the exhibition included more than 150 drawing works that were done by 74 male and female students representing 11 scientific and engineering departments at the university and the engineering departments are “civil, laser, optoelectronics, electrical, production and metallurgy, materials, electromechanical, oil, mechanical, and chemical.” Departments of Applied Sciences and Computer Science.

The exhibition will continue till 25-11-2021.

Prof. Dr. Ahmed M. Hassan Al-Ghaban, inaugurated the sports season at the university for the academic year 2021-2022, which was set up by Dept. of Student Activities at the university on Monday, 15th Nov., 2021 at the university stadium, in the presence of the    Vice –President for Administrative Affairs / Prof. Dr. Hussein Hamid Karim and a number of heads of scientific & engineering Depts., directors of administrative departments and a number of university teachers and students.

The inauguration of the sports season began with a display of U.O.T. holders of slogan Republic of Iraq, the slogan of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the University of Technology and the teams participating in the university football championship of 16 teams representing the scientific and engineering departments, and the torch holders. The student, Hawazen Luay, presented the national anthem, and then recited Surat Al-Fatihah, as a mercy to the martyrs of Iraq

The university president authorized the start of the sports season at the university, which witnessed the establishment of a  meeting for the female students between the university team and AL  Israa University College, which ended with the university team winning three goals to one goal.

The first half ended with the university team advancing with one goal, which was scored by the player of the national team and the Air Force team, Mina K. Jaber, a student in Materials Eng. Dept., from a direct free kick. The player herself added the second goal in the second half of a penalty kick, and the student Yaqeen Abdullah from  Computer Science Dept. scored the third goal of the university team, but the student Rawan Khaled scored the only goal of Al-Israa University College.

The start of the sports season witnessed the first sporting event with the inauguration of the university football championship for students, whose system is held according to the group league. The meeting ended with civil Eng. team winning over electromechanical Eng. teams with three goals without a response in the fourth group.

The director of Student Activities Dept. at the university, Asst. Prof. Dr. Najah Salman, said that the university’s student championship includes 16 teams representing the scientific and Eng. Depts., which were divided into 4 groups. The first group included production engineering, metallurgy, architecture, computer science and applied science teams, while the second group consisted of teams Chemical, mechanical, computer and petroleum engineering, and the third group included engineering teams of communications, electricity, control, systems and Biomedical Eng., and the fourth group included electromechanical and civil engineering teams, materials, lasers and optoelectronics.
