The Department of Production Engineering and Metallurgy team retained the title of the University of Technology Football Championship for Lecturers for the ninth consecutive time after defeating the Department of Applied Sciences team by four goals to nil in the final match at the university's stadium. The match was attended by the Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Farhad Mohammed Othman, and several heads of engineering and scientific departments and university lecturers.

The first half of the match ended in a goalless draw before the Department of Production Engineering team imposed its control over the game in the second half and succeeded in scoring four goals, which Lec. Adel Shbib, Ass. Prof. . Dr., scored. Munir Mahmoud, Ass. Lec. Ali Raad, and Ass. Lec. Momin Mazin.

The match was led by the referees, Ass,Prof. Muwaid Walid, Ass. Lec.. Murtadha Ali, Ass. Lec.. Mustafa Najdat, and the supervisor, Ass. Lec.. Mutaz Riyadh. The head of the Football Committee in the Student Activities Department at the university, Ass. Lec.. Ali Ismail, said that 16 teams representing the engineering and scientific departments at the university participated in the tournament.

The medals were distributed by the Head of the Department of Production Engineering and Metallurgy, Dr. Muhannad Al-Khafaji, to the Department of Applied Sciences team, which came in second place. The medals were distributed by the Head of the Department of Applied Sciences, Dr. Raid Abd Alwahab, to the first-place winner. The cups were distributed to the first and second-place winners by the Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Farhad Mohammed Othman, and the Director of the Student Activities Department, Dr. Amin Dhanun Ahmed distributed the awards to many heads and directors of departments, centers, and departments participating in and supporting sports activities at the University of Technology.

 

 

 

Under the auspices of the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghabban, the sporting season was inaugurated under the direct supervision of the Students Activates Department. The opening ceremony began with a recitation of the Fatiha for the souls of the martyrs, followed by a parade of the participating teams, represented by the scientific and engineering departments, which raised the republican flag, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research flag, and the University of Technology flag.

The flags of the scientific and engineering departments were carried at the head of each department, raising their flags and a sign bearing the name of the scientific and engineering department. A friendly women's football match was held in cooperation with the Iraqi Football Association. The first match of the University Football Championship (men) followed this between the Petroleum and Gas Engineering Department vs. Computer Sciences Department and the match ended with the victory of the Petroleum and Gas Engineering team by five clear goals to one for Computer Sciences.

  

 

 

 

 

 
 
 

 

 
 
 
 
 

 

 

On November 4, 2023, Dr. Ahmad Al-Ghabban, President of University, inaugurated the 2023-2024 Iraqi Universities Chess Championship (students and female students). The championship was held at University of Technology from November 4-9, 2023.

This championship is part of the annual ministerial curriculum for student activities in Iraqi universities. The Department of Student Activities, with its faculty, staff, and other cadres, worked to organize and prepare all the requirements for the delegations coming from all universities and colleges in Iraq, including faculty, staff, and students. They also welcomed the delegations and provided all the necessary supplies for the championship, including preparing the halls to receive the players.

The championship was conducted by an international arbitration team consisting of 8 international referees. The general supervisor of the arbitration team was International Referee Saad Mohsen Al-Kanani.

  

 

 

 
 
افتتح رئيس الجامعة التكنولوجية الدكتور احمد الغبان، بتاريخ 4 تشرين الثاني 2023، بطولة الجامعات العراقية للشطرنج 2023-2024 (الطلبة والطالبات). واقيمت البطولة في الجامعة التكنولوجية خلال الفترة من 4-9 تشرين الثاني 2023. وتأتي هذه البطولة ضمن المنهاج الوزاري السنوي للأنشطة الطلابية في الجامعات العراقية. وعملت دائرة النشاط الطلابي بأعضاء هيئة التدريس والموظفين والكوادر الأخرى على تنظيم وتجهيز كافة المتطلبات للوفود القادمة من جميع الجامعات والكليات في العراق من أعضاء هيئة التدريس والموظفين والطلاب. كما رحبوا بالوفود وقدموا كافة المستلزمات اللازمة للبطولة بما في ذلك تجهيز الصالات لاستقبال اللاعبين. وأدار البطولة فريق تحكيم دولي مكون من 8 حكام دوليين. وكان المشرف العام على فريق التحكيم هو الحكم الدولي سعد محسن الكناني.
 
 

 

 
 

Students of Materials Eng. Dept. & Students of Laser Eng. Dept. Win U.O.T. Chess Championship

Materials Eng. Dept.  won the University of Technology Chess Championship for students, and the Laser and Optical Electronics Eng. Dept.  won first place for female students in the championship competitions held by Student Activities Department at U.O.T.  for the academic year 2021-2022 in cooperation with the Iraqi Central Chess Federation in the department hall on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021, with the participation of 47 male and 13 female students represent the University Eng. and Scientific departments.

 The student of the Materials Engineering Department, Noori Sabah, a star of the national youth team and the Communications Club team, won the student competition title after collecting 5 points with a difference of opponents’ points over runner-up Ali Laith, player of Eng. Dept. team, and he came in third place, Mua'amel Muhammad, player of computer science team, with 4 points.

Noori Sabah managed to win the title by winning all five rounds over Abdul Karim Imad from Petroleum Technology, Taher Falah from Biomedical Eng., Hussein Kamal from Mechanical Eng., Basil Majed from Civil Eng. and Muhammad Riyadh from Electrical Eng., while student Ali Laith won in his five matches. Ali Amin Emad from Mechanical Engineering, Ahmed Hamed from Communications Eng. , Ahmed Saleh from Civil Eng., Mohamed Abdul-Sada from Electromechanical Eng., and Mua'amel Muhammad from Computer Science.

 The student from Laser Eng. Dept., Rowaida Saad Mohsen, the star of the women’s national team and the goal club team, won the first place in female competitions with 5 points, by winning full mark in the five rounds over the students, Maryam Adnan from architectural Eng., and good news from materials engineering, Mays Khalil from production and Metallurgy Eng. , and Qabas Mustafa From architectural  Eng.  and Ola Abdul Karim from Electromechanical Eng.

 Qabas Mustafa, from Architectural Eng. Dept.  came in second place with 4 points, after breaking the tie with Mays Khalil from Production Engineering and Metallurgy, who ranked third and has the same points.

The tournament, which took place according to the Swiss system of five rounds, was led by the organizer and international referee, Saad Mohsen Al-Kinani, and the international referee, Ismail Ibrahim, who are from the Iraqi Central Chess Federation.

The tournament was supervised by Asst. Prof. Dr. Amin Th. Ahmed , Asst. Prof. Dr. Emad Jassem , Asst. Lect.  Mustafa Sobhi and Lect. Dr. Firas Farqad ,  Mr. Yasser Hassan,  Mr. Abdullah Adnan and Mr.  Haider Hamid.
